• Description: When it comes to Grace's wedding dress, the only outfit seen throughout the movie, a lot needs to be said. The dress itself it's not just a dress, but another character on its own, not to mention a metaphor for Grace's journey throughout the movie. Costume designer, Avery Plewes, designed a total of 24 dresses - 17 worn by Samara and 7 worn by her stuntdouble. What you actually see on screen it's not just a simple wedding dress, but it's actually a set of different items. There is a lace top, a corset, a skirt, a skirt liner and a silk slash. The very first wedding dress is actually inspired by Kate Middleton's wedding dress. As the movie does progress, we see different versions of this dress depending on where Grace is and what happened. At first it gets stuck in the elevator, and Grace rips it off. Later on, when she slips her mustard converse on, she stomps on it and cuts some lenght off of it. When she falls in the goats' pit, it gets bloodier and dirtier, not to mention when she finally escapes and rips off one sleeve for her hand wound. It also gets cut in the back, when she tries to escape from the gate.
